A culinary symphony in three acts: Prelude to Perfection, Deep Sea Crescendo, The Sweet Epilogue. Speilsalen composes a menu the way you'd compose music, so we filmed it the same way. A bridge from nature, where the ingredients begin, to the Mirror Hall, where they become the dish. Three films, each scored by Jonathan Sigsworth as its own piece, three that stand apart and still belong to one whole. The film that took us out of Norway and into the world.
People don't believe we shot these ourselves, and mostly we did. A crew of five or six on the key restaurant scenes, our regular gaffers on the light, and the two of us on everything else. Three films for a menu built in three acts. Somewhere in the middle of it we found a way to shoot food that we hadn't seen before, and haven't stopped using since.
